Next-Gen Monitoring
Connecting advanced sensors with Eagle Eye surveillance system to enhance video monitoring
Eagle Eye Networks | March 2023 ~ Sept 2023
Role: Lead UI/UX Designer
Collaborators: UI/UX Design Intern
Elevate Security System with Environmental Monitoring Capabilities
PROBLEM
In order to enhance our platform, meet the evolving needs of our users, and stay competitive with our competitors, we prioritized the integration of Swift Sensors into our EEN VMS solution. We wanted to empower our users with advanced environmental monitoring capabilities alongside our industry-leading video surveillance. This integration would create a more unified, intelligent security system.
BACKGROUND
Planning the Project & Requirements
Managing and collaborating with the intern who was hired to work on this project
Reporting to Product Manager and Director of Product Management
Researched Swift Sensors to get comprehensive overview what Swift Sensors does, its applications, and the technology
Took on project management responsibilities - Created a roadmap/plan for the project. Broke it down into stages so it was clear for the intern as well as stakeholders to manage their expectations
For this project, I supervised and collaborated with the UI/UX Design Intern, and had frequent reviews with the Product Manager and the Director of Product Management, who were leading this initiative. Our goals were to
Integrate the Swift Sensors into EEN VMS for real time monitoring of video feeds and and sensor data. The sensors are essentially a new device akin to a camera, so we had to consider all features and edge cases to ensure compatibility within the VMS.
Design the sensor integration to align with our design language and guidelines
Integrate Sensors as a New Device Into EEN Security System
GOALS
RESEARCH
Swift Sensors is Used in Various Industries
Got an account and went through the process of adding sensors and interacting with the different features to get an overview of the full product and its capabilities
Competitor analysis done by intern
Understanding what does Swift Sensors do, what is their product, who is their target users, their showcases/solutions, etc.
DEFINE
Defined User Needs From Monitoring To Setting Thresholds And Modifying Settings
DEFINE
Created User Flows For All Interactions
Below are a few examples of the user flows created
IDEATION
In Agile Fashion, We Rapidly Wire framed, Presented During Weekly Reviews, and Built Upon Ideas
We adopted an agile approach for creating user flows and rough wireframes due to the integration-focused nature of the project. For example, we worked on the user flow and wireframes for individual functionalities like 'adding devices,' as this flow did not significantly impact others, such as 'layouts.' Creating visual wireframes helped us effectively communicate the design direction to the engineering manager, ensuring alignment on the API development requirements.
Reviews and Alignment with Product Management team, Design team, and design language
Presented to VP of Product, CEO, Stakeholders
Make sure to include and keep the stakeholders who are in charge of adjacent features of the web app informed on the design
VALIDATION
Extensive Internal Reviews with EEN and Swift Sensors Stakeholders Ensured Alignment and Optimal UX
We had frequent reviews and syncs with senior PM leadership to align and help catch any missing aspects of the design that may have been overlooked. This project was highly visible to the CEO as well.

Anticipated release for Q2 2024
RESULT
Currently, this is in the implementation phase and is scheduled for release in Q2 '24. Both the backend and frontend are in development. EEN leverages qualitative data from our end users as key performance indicators.
Throughout the design cycle, we conducted internal reviews with stakeholders from EEN and Swift Sensors. Additionally, we tested the feature with end users. It was also showcased as an upcoming feature at our EEN annual summit with our resellers, sparking significant excitement.
LEARNING
Embracing new skills and experiences: Guiding interns, defining requirements, and managing a project
Guiding my first intern was a significant experience that honed my communication, time management, and delegation skills. I learned to articulate tasks clearly, provide constructive feedback, and offer guidance, all while juggling my own responsibilities. Delegating tasks effectively meant striking the right balance between challenging assignments and building confidence. Moreover, overseeing my first end-to-end integration project, which garnered attention from top leadership, taught me the importance of meticulous planning and stakeholder alignment.
